New house, new life

Since last time I updated my blog, we have bought a new house! For those interested I have a blog about the renovation, Mimmi's house. It's in norwegian, but it's mostly pictures. My boyfriend, my kids and I moved in last August, and since then we have been working on renovating the whole house. So far we have almost finished the top floor, and we are currently working on the main floor. The only thing left to finish on the top floor now, is the inside of my dollhouse room :-)

This is what it used to look like in the upstairs living room...

But then my boyfriend started building me a room for my dollhouses!

This is what it looks like now! Quite a difference! I am looking forward to finish the interior so that I can put my dollhouses in there, and unpack all my miniatures.

A visit to Kristin Baybars shop

In the beginning of January I went to London, and of course I had to visit Kristin Baybars shop! She is such a lovely lady, and her shop is amazing!

I bought some small glass items. I am planning to make some scented candles using the three jars.

I also got these urns. I have made lots of flowers, and I`m going to make flower arrangements in these for the diningroom at the Inn.

And I bought some lamps...

And the wizard got some new glass items for his potion making.

He also got a filled shelf for his bedroom.

I don`t know the maker of this chair, but it`s absolutely gorgeous! I put it in the Tuscan Villa.

This is piping for a sink I have, and a sweet picture.

Merry Christmas!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Chistmas! Hope you all are having a wonderful Holiday!

This is the view from my living room window this morning! White Christmas! :-D

Earlier today the boys helped preparing for the Christmas party by putting all of the gifts under the tree. And afterwards they very willingly posed for a picture.

Weekend in Italy, and a souvenir from Rome

Last weekend my husband and I went to Italy. We traveled with two other couples. We spent the first day sightseeing in Rome, and three days in a small village an hour outside of Rome called Vasanello.

I kept my eyes open for miniatures, and in Rome I found this....

We saw the Trevi fountain....

had some tasty italian gelati...
stumbled upon a Valrhona shop and bought some chocolate....
and we visited the Colusseum.
In the small village of Vasanello we went for a walk, it was such a lovely and calm place.
On the wall in a restaurant I saw this "dollhouse"-picture. It was really pretty and well-made.
We also went to a vineyard for some wine-tasting and a lovely meal.
And of course I just had to try some real italian pizza! It was delicious!
Here`s the whole group at this wonderful little hidden gem of a restaurant, it was my favorite.
(me in the grey cardigan).
And this is another village where we had dinner one evening.

All in all a fantastic trip, I enjoyed every single moment! Nice people, calm surroundings and fantastic food!

Trip to London

This Sunday I got back from our trip to London. I went with my sister and our mother, and we stayed in London from Thursday to Sunday. We did lots of shopping, went on a sightseeing bus (since my sister hasn`t been in London before) and saw the "Mamma Mia" musical, front row, very cool! We also ate at one of Gordon Ramsey`s restaurants, Maze, had afternoon tea at the Ritz, had lunch at Laduree at Harrods (and of course bought some macaroons to go), visited the Victoria and Albert museum, Kew Gardens, and last, but not least... Kristin Baybars Dollhouse shop! WOW! What a shop, I just loved it! She had just about everything you could imagine, and I highly recommend visiting her shop if you are going to London.
Not far from Kew Gardens we visited a quilt shop, and I bought these fabrics...

This is a dollhouse at Kew Palace in Kew Garden. It was bigger than 1:12, but I just had to take some pictures anyway :-)

These are the things I bought from Kristin Baybars...

The figurine is by Veronique Cornish.

Some mossy pots by Clive Brooker

A beautiful owl for my wizard by Annie Willis of Fine Designs

Some more wizard items

And something for the kids

And some paintings (prints, that is, not real paintings)

Birthday gifts

I just celebrated my 30th birthday, and these are the miniature-gifts I got!

My sister knitted me this cute blanket. It`s the first miniature she`s ever made, and I have given her hints for years that I would love to have something in my dollhouse that she had made. Finally she "gave in"... ;-D

From my two boys I got these Stokesay Ware jars.

My husband got me this baker`s rack by J. Getzan. I think it`s so beautiful! It has been on my wishlist for several years.

I put it in the Tuscan Villa and added some miniatures....

I also got a gift certificate at SP Miniatures. Can`t wait to pick out some minis!

My new craft room

I have always wanted my own room to work on my miniatures, a place where I can leave out my work-in-progress without my to boys touching it. And now I have it! Our caravan! :-D
We bought it last month, and it`s been parked outside our house since then, and I got the idea to use it as my workspace. So I grabbed all my materials and tools, and settled in. It`s so nice, quiet and cozy there, I love it! And I`m going to submit my finished Bachelor paper tomorrow, so now I have lots of time to spend working on my minis until school starts again in August. I can`t remember the last time I had such a long summer holiday, I think I was 17 years old... Since then I have worked every summer, or looked after the kids. But they both go to kindergarden full-time now, so I`ll have the days all to myself. Ahhh... luxury!

Two new books

I just got these books in the mail from Amazon. I just love this book by Léa, the pictures are so amazing! And how fun with all the tutorials! I`m also looking forward to try making some of the food in Angie Scarr`s book.
